Incentives for Owning a Hybrid Vehicle

Incentives for Owning a Hybrid Vehicle

The Canadian government and the government of Ontario offer incentives for hybrids.

Canadian Government Incentives

Canada offers deals under the Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles (iZEV) Program, which is applied at the point of sale. The incentive depends on the model, year, and terms of purchase.

The only Toyota hybrids eligible are the Prius and the RAV4 Prime. For the Prius, the incentives range from $625 to $5,000; for the RAV4, the range is $1,250 to $5,000.

Ontario incentives

Ontario’s Electric Vehicle Incentive Program encourages residents to purchase electric or hybrid vehicles.

The first part of the incentive is a given at the point of sale and is between $5,000 and $8,000. The value depends on the size of the vehicle’s battery.

A rebate is also offered to homeowners who purchase a Level 2 charging station. This covers 50% of the purchase of the station, up to a maximum of $500, and 50% of the installation cost, up to $500.

Benefits of Choosing a Hybrid

Benefits of Choosing a Hybrid

The most obvious benefit is the lowered fuel consumption and the extended range, which are highly beneficial to the consumer.
